Narayanganj-- (UNB) - Huge raw materials of a vegetable oil mill were gutted in a devastating fire near Meghna Bridge in Sonargaon upazila here today.

Sources said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at about 2:45pm at the warehouse of Meghna Oil Industries, an organisation of Meghna Group.

Fire fighters from Demra, Postagola, Hajiganj and Bandar came to the spot and brought the blaze under control after four hours of frantic efforts.

The owner of the mill claimed that the loss is about Tk 5 crore.

At least 10 people suffered burn injures while extinguishing the fire.
